Dividend facts: What it is and when it’s Paid
A divided can be described as a small payment provided by companies to shareholders. It is usually a preset fraction of every share of stock a company has. Dividends go up as you increase your number of shares.
- When is a dividend paid?
Each company has its own pre-set season for paying dividends. Many stocks pay out every ninety days though. If a company pays 0.5 dollars per share, and you have 1000 shares of its stock, you will receive 530 dollars on the ninetieth day. - Are dividends taxed?
There are two ways of taxing dividends. First, if you have owned stock for many months or longer, a dividend arising form it is treated as a capital gain and taxed as such. Any other types of dividends owned are taxed the same way as your normal salary. But still taxation on dividends depends on the system or tax laws of your country. Normally, qualified dividends that are treated as capital gains are taxed fairly in the long run.
