The ATO has advised that it is working with practitioners and their software providers to deliver an SBR-enabled practitioner lodgement service for all returns and statements.
From July 2016, this service will become its main lodgement channel replacing the electronic lodgement service (ELS).
Practitioners may already be using SBR-enabled software to lodge activity statements through the software the use in their practice.
These changes will allow them to use the same software for all lodgements.
To help practitioners to transition, the ATO says it will maintain ELS as a safety net until 31 March 2017.
This will allow time for them to transition their practice’s software to lodge all returns and statement through SBR-enabled software.
What do practitioners need to do?
At the moment, nothing/ software providers are working on delivering this service to their clients and will contact them to let them know when they expect to make this software available.
