The Dalai Lama has said many amazing things, and one that has captivated many is “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.” Few of us can spend each day being happy if we have to do as we are told and not allowed to let our mind wander and our actions be enjoyable.
It is when we have time to ourselves and are able to do what we want that we can find real happiness. The film “The Inn of the Sixth Happiness” showed this to a degree as there were 5 accepted things that would make anyone happy – the first 5 being things that we would all wish for both for ourselves and those close to us, the sixth one was our own personal choice.
That one thing that would make us happy but maybe not others. If we allow ourselves to do the things that make us happy we will have much more pleasant lives.
