Maimonides Cautions us On How to Use our Tongues
Some inspirational quotes are meant to correct us. A good example is this: Teach thy tongue to say, “I do not know,” and thous shalt progress.” It was spoken by Maimonides. Tongue is a powerful weapon that you only can learn to control and tame.
You could let your tongue say some things that could land you on the hot seat. It would be best to say you do not know when you really do not have to comment on something. People who say “ I do not know” progress in life as they are hardly ever linked to the consequences of anything.
In addition, keeping quiet sometimes opens an opportunity for people to learn new things. There are times when behaving like you know everything won’t be beneficial. Sometimes being quiet so as to learn from others is the way to go, as Maimonides puts it. And if you shut up to gather information you really need you move a step ahead in your life.
