The federal Government is a step closer to scrapping the mining tax after the Minerals Resource Rent Tax Repeal Bill was passed through the lower house on Wednesday (20 November 2013). The bill will now be considered by the senate. Successful implementation of the Bill will see a number of labor policies getting axed, including
– Schoolkids bonus
– Business loss carry back
– Accelerated depreciation for motor vehicles
– Geothermal exploration provisions
– Low income superannuation contribution and
– The income support bonus.
