This year is a new message in the Tax Agent Portal pre-Filling Report, which will display if work-related expenses claimed in a client’s 2016 tax return were high in comparison to clients in similar occupations and income rang in the prior year
The ATO says this will help practitioners identify whether their deductions require closer scrutiny when preparing their tax return.
In the future, the ATO aims to deliver this information through the practitioner lodgement service (PLS)
