Gavin Bottrell

CEO / Main Director

Gavin Bottrell is the CEO, Managing Director and founder of Bottrell Group, a firm encompassing all aspects of what it means to successfully run and profit from a business. Gavin established the first sector of the Group, Bottrell Business Consultants in April 2010.

Gavin was raised in Lake Macquarie and educated at the University of Newcastle. Rebecca Bottrell


Rebecca has over 13 years public practice experience gained from working with mid-tier chartered accounting firms. Upon receiving a scholarship at University of Newcastle, Rebecca completed a Bachelor of Commerce, Majoring in Financial Accounting and is a Registered Tax Agent. Rebecca is also a certified Xero Trainer.

Rebecca has a passion for assisting to grow business through understanding the key drivers of their operation. Rebecca work with her clients not only to achieve their business performance goals, but also to help them achieve their desired lifestyle outcomes. Rebecca provides general business and taxation services to a wide range of small-to-medium enterprise, specialising in the hospitality, building, construction and legal industry.

Rebecca comes from a country background, being raised on a large cattle station in Tamworth. She appreciates the value of commitment to the local community and is actively involved in events situated throughout the Hunter Valley.

Andrew Howson

Bottrell Business Director

Andrew Howson has been an accountant for over 18 years. Previously he has worked at a large firm in Newcastle but moved to Bottrell’s for the opportunity to work in a progressive firm.
He specialises in the hospitality industry, audits for both legal firms and not for profit entities and enjoys assisting clients in reaching their personal and business goals.
Andrew is fully qualified and holds a CPA, Bachelor or Commerce and Justice of the Peace. He is also a member of several local sporting club boards.
Away from work he has 2 young daughters and a son which keeps him nice and busy.

Todd Holden

General Manager

Todd was appointed General Manager of Bottrell Business Consultants at the end of 2017.
He has 18 years worth of experience in Managerial positions for large companies. During his time in these positions, he as accumulated a reputation as an effective and efficient manager, with customer satisfaction a core focus.

Todd has graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Education, with his focus on Physical Education and Fitness. His passion for sport and fitness is translated into his day-to-day life. Todd is on the board of the Maitland Rugby Club, with his kids all involved heavily within the game.

Robert Auer

Accountant, Financial Planner

Rob has worked in Financial and Income Tax Reporting for 10 years, and a commercial background for 5 years prior. As an Accountant and Financial Planner he loves the strategy behind meeting a client’s goals, and achieving their taxation and planning needs. Rob and his family are involved in the local community through various sports and community organisations – particularly his love of local rugby.

Renae Wilson

Accountant, Para Planner

Renae has been in the accounting industry for over 15 years. She has worked with clients in the construction, mining and a range of trade industries. Renae has a passion for working with Self Managed Super Fund clients and has over 10 experience in this field. Renae has completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Newcastle Uni and is currently completing her Diploma of Financial Planning.

Dakota Woods

Trainee Business Advisor

Dakota has worked with teams of people in Hospitality and Retail previously, and is now venturing into the world of Business and Accounting. As a trainee Business Adviser she enjoys strategy and planning, as well as learning new things. Dakota is also studying a double degree in Law and Psychology at the University of Newcastle. Dakota enjoys spending her free-time practicing yoga and meditation, which she says helps her to find a balanced lifestyle.


Allison Wilkinson

Office Manager

Alison has over 10 years exclusive experience in accounting administration with 8 of those with our firm after joining our team in 2010. Alison provides our firm with a strong knowledge of our industry and takes on the role as office manager.
Her role is often varied and as she is the Office manager, directly assists the directors, accounts, assists with social media marketing, websites, and ASIC. Alison is has also studied and received her accounting diploma to expand her knowledge and to help with the accounting team when required.
Outside of work Alison enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and Daughters Amelia & Imogen; and her family. She likes to go camping, catching up with friends and improving her home.

David Cooke

Accounting Manager

David has been employed in the Accounting and Finance industry for over 10 years including more than 8 years in Public Practice Accounting. He joined Bottrell Business Consultants in November 2015, after working for Bentleys Newcastle Pty Ltd. To date David’s main focus has been on Business Services primarily Accounting, Tax and Business Advisory. His qualifications include completing a Bachelor of Commerce at Newcastle University in 2006, his CPA in early 2015 and a Certificate 4 in Finance & Mortgage Broking in early 2018.

David has a keen interest in various Sports (both participating and spectating), and also has a love for travel. David has lived in the United Kingdom three times.

I recently moved down from Tamworth to the Maitland district with my family. I have been in the accounting industry for 5 years servicing industries such as construction, medical specialists, retail and primary producers. Outside of work I love watching and playing rugby union and have 4 daughters that keep me on my toes!

Adell joined our team at the beginning of 2015 & has 7 years of experience in the industry, specialising in small business accounting & tax planning.

Throughout the years, Adell she has developed a strong passion for reviewing small business growth opportunities & helping her clients achieve the best possible tax results through implementation of business strategies.

Adell has grown up in Newcastle, participated in local sporting teams for over 15 years and has completed her Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Newcastle.

Adell is based in both our Newcastle and East Maitland offices.

Timothy Rossington

Senior Accountant

Joined our team in April 2017 & has 9 years’ experience specialising in small business accounting and taxation across a number of firms. He has worked with clients in a wide variety of industries ranging from retail to construction. Tim’s enjoys working with client’s to help use their accounting system more efficiently and working with clients to achieve the best possible result in their personal tax. Graduate of university of Newcastle with a commerce degree, Xero certified and provisional chartered accountant.

Hi everyone, I’m Melesande, a 3rd year Bachelor of Commerce student at Newcastle University. I’ve been with the firm for over 3.5 years, having developed my skills in the Accounting & Tax fields during this time. My background is in Hospitality & Retail having worked in those industries for over 10 years. When not at work I love to play sport (soccer is my choice) and participate in anything social – Melbourne Cup Day is my favourite!

Recently completed university with a double degree of Business and Commerce majoring in Accounting and international business. On time off I enjoy various sports including soccer, golf, cricket, AFL and wakeboarding. I live on a farm and when I am not at work spend a lot of my time tending to cattle and making sure everything runs smoothly. My favourite thing about working at Bottrell’s is the persistence shown by our team to get the best outcome for our clients.

Morgan Freeman

Morgan has been both studying a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Commerce at UoN and working at Bottrell’s since the beginning of 2016. Morgan believes that working at Bottrell’s provides her with a different learning opportunity each day, which drives her to improve the knowledge she has across all areas of tax. Outside of work and study, Morgan enjoys any sport she can participate in, and loves the competitiveness involved.

Alex here, recently started for Bottrell Media a a web developer to manage all of our exisiting client websites and also be ready for any new projects that come our way. While not creating websites I’m either gaming or at the gym.

I’m Matt, I am currently 20 years old and have been working at Bottrell Business Consultants for about 18 months. I manage the eBay stores and work with our online Shopify stores making sure all orders are processed and all customer questions have been answered. When I’m not at work I like to go to the movies or play some video games.
