Anais Nin was a woman who lived between February 21, 1903 and January 14, 1977. She was a lady who lived on her own terms and rules. Anais Nin kept the diaries of her life since she was eleven. She was a woman without limits. Anais made a quote that is remembered until now: Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.
This statement depicts immense wisdom. It promotes courage and fearlessness. When you invite the unknown, you help yourself live more richly. You must take a personal responsibility no matter what you face. Anais Nin advises that what becomes of our lives depends on how we use it.
Using it foolishly means that we will suffer in the end. When we make mistakes, it is upon us to own up rather than expecting other people to take responsibility. It also implies that we need to seek knowledge to prevent our lives from shrinking.
