Australian Manufacturing
Australian Manufacturing Workers Union has warned that shutting down some of Australia’s car manufacturing sites will cost 50,000 jobs and wipe $21 billion from the Australian economy.
The newly elected federal government is vowing to cut $500 million in handouts to the car manufacturing industry, which is leaving the Holden car assembly line in Adelaide in limbo due to asking for an increase in government assistance in order to build two new cars from 2016 to 2022.
Ford has announced in May 2013 that it must close its Geelong and Broadmeadows in no later than October 2016, and this appears to have started a trend with all of the other car companies.
