Low income tax offset for minors – ATO Error
The ATO has advised that it will send letters to a small number of taxpayers affected by a system error which under-calculated the low income tax offset amount for minors for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 income years. It said it has since resolved the system error. The ATO indicated the returns will be amended and the amendment may result in a small refund or reduce the amount of debt a taxpayer owes.
