Maitland Rugby Union Club 2nd Grade “Bottrell Business Consultants” Blacks
An update on the Maitland Rugby Union Club 2nd Grade “Bottrell Business Consultants” Blacks. Its finals time and 2nd grade are deep into the finals. After finishing second on the ladder the Bottrell side played the Southern Beaches in the first weekend of finals, having just beaten them the weekend before 13-10.
Cruising out to a 23 to nil lead at half time the team looked the goods to make the playoff final for a grand final spot. Unfortunately the final result saw Southern Beaches come from behind in injury time to steal the win at 24-23. An unusual result for a consistent 2nd grade side usually good at closing out close games. However a very entertaining game if you follow Southern Beaches.
Last weekend’s knock out game saw 2nd grade take on Hamilton and a return to form for the Bottrell Blacks. Last week they closed out the win securing a tough 24 – 21 Victory.
This weekend sees 2nd grade play Southern Beaches again which has become a familiarity, having to now play against each other 3 times over 4 weeks. No doubt it will be a close one but 2nd grade will now have a fresh reserves on the bench from 3rd grade from last week’s loss in the lower grade.
Good Luck to the Bottrell Business Consultants 2nd Grade for their chance to make the Grand Final on September 19.
