How to Register a New Business
When setting up a new business it will need to be registered. In order to get the Australian business number to allow you to trade, you can go online to the Australian Business register and find out what you will have to do. This is also the process if you want to reactivate a business number.
The type of form you need will depend on the type of new business you are going to establish. If you want to trade as a sole trader you will need NAT2938 while for companies or trusts it will be NAT 2939.
Although everybody can apply, only those who are entitled will get an ABN. If you are not entitled but still apply, your ABN application will be refused.
