WORLD’S GREATEST SHAVE
On March 15, 2017 at the Bottrell Office in Maitland, Jonathon and the Bottrell team raised over $2000 by participating in the World’s Greatest Shave. Jonathon, Lachlan and Aiden each had their head shaved to show support for such a great cause. They braved the rain and took to the humming blades in the barbers keen hands live on social media with over 600 viewers. One of the boys even walked away with rather interesting looking Mohawk, go lachy!!
What’s The World’s Greatest Shave all about? Well it’s a reason to raise much needed funds for blood cancer research and a good way to get the community involved. Rather than just asking for ‘empty donations’, the community can actually get amongst it and have a good laugh!
Leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma are types of blood cancer. They can develop in anyone, of any age, at any time.
Blood cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia, claiming more lives than breast cancer or melanoma.
Although research is improving survival, sadly an Australian loses their life to blood cancer every two hours.
The Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave began back in 1998 is now one of Australia’s biggest fundraising events.
This year it aims to raise $17 million with your help. Your donations go to funding vital research that will help more people survive blood cancers like lymphoma, leukaemia and myeloma, while improving their quality of life.
A little goes a long way and we are so proud of our team members who took part in this amazing day.
