A lot of parents want to do what they can for their children, but being too hands on can often work against them. Ann Landers understood this when she said “It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings.” It is a natural thing to do as few would have children and then decide to neglect them and leave them to fend for themselves.
Too many seem to thrive when they have their parents at their back covering every move, but the problem starts when the parent is not there for one reason or another.
It is what they are taught to do at this stage as it is when they are on their own their strengths will show. If Ann Landers has taught her children what she suggests, they should be well rounded people.
