Erica Jong Words about Taking Responsibility
It is wrong to let other people take responsibility and make all the decisions for you. And even if you are not happy with the life that you are living you are in a safe place. Erica Jong did not believe this and thought that the thing we should all do is to take the choices back and make the decisions we want to make.
Erica Jong said: “You take your life in your own hands, and what happens? A terrible thing, no one to blame,” and this is what we should all do.”
We must take responsibility, as Erica Jong notes, for what we do. As well, we should at least know we have choices. You may not be happy and you may not be progressing as you would have hoped to when you were young, but there is one thing that you can cling onto. It is not your fault.
Jong was born and grew up in New York City. She is the middle daughter of Seymour Mann and Eda Mirsky. Her father was a businessman of Polish Jewish ancestry who owned a gifts and home accessories company known as “one of the world’s most acclaimed makers of collectible porcelain dolls”. Her mother was born in England of a Russian Jewish immigrant family, was a painter and textile designer who also designed dolls for her husband’s company.
