Christmas Marketing Techniques
Using digital channels to create and deepen customer relationships should be at the top of your agenda as you seek to maximise revenue potential over the months coming up to Christmas. Here are some tips for you to think about in the months leading up to the holidays.
October – get your house in order
October is also a great time to start your pre-Christmas marketing. Some simple ways to do this include promoting your Christmas catalogue via social media, SMS, in-app messaging and email. Highlight the ‘hot’ gifts for the season and flag the products that might sell out before Christmas to encourage people to get their shopping done earlier.
November – enter the holiday spirit
Twenty to 40 per cent of sales happen during November and December. Email, Facebook and Twitter are great ways to stay in touch with your customers and keep them up-to-date with upcoming promotions. It’s critical to reach customers across digital channels in order to achieve this target.
December – the final push
December is the time to maximise last-minute sales. This can be done through offers, reminders and gift suggestions.
January – the clean-up
In January, continue to drive sales and clear any excess stock by promoting post-holiday sales, emailing gift-card holders to remind them to use their gift cards and offer personalised emails based on past purchases by suggesting complementary products (such as compatible accessories). Don’t forget to remind customers about deadlines for returning and exchanging gifts.
